How to get through heartbreak on Valentine's Day

Experiencing heartbreak during Valentine’s Day can cut deeply, it may be something you remember for years later. The red roses, always in deep red, the expensive chocolates, and the endless choice in cards and fluffy toys. That’s just the start. Looking amazing, and smelling beautiful on Valentine’s Day can crush you on the 14th February if you don’t have someone’s hand to hold, or even worse if you’ve got a black bow tied heart, bursting with pain and heartbreak. I don’t know why she’s wearing black mascara, that’s the look that ‘encapsulates heartbreak’, but I suppose Valentine’s Day is a day ‘for him’ to make amends, for a few slights that year. The knives in a heartbroken girls stomach just cut deeper. So how do you get through the ‘heartbreak’ on Valentine’s Day? With an average of 145 million cards sent within the UK each Valentine’s Day, and over one billion cards sent globally each year, it is only just topped by Christmas Day, which is again ‘double’ the amount. It’s hard to avoid, and extremely embarrassing, and ‘sulking’ about the romantic affair, just makes things worse.

What's the World's Greatest Love Story?

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

Fanny Price is sent to Mansfield Park at a very young age. With no real countenance, or 'glow' the meek looking girl has to leave her home, her family, and her old life behind, to live with her distant relatives, in a home, completely different to her original background, where she faced poverty and deprivation. She settles into Mansfield Park, and begins to fall in love deeply with her cousin Edmund, her first friend and ally. Fanny begins to grow fond of cousin Edmund, and holds back her feelings. As both realise Fanny has been 'caught out', they begin a long process of surfacing their true feelings for each other, good and bad. Their bond blossoms into romance, and Fanny, the once inadequate, timid and subservient young girl, turns into a real contender for Edmund's affections. Something she dreamt about daily, to become his wife, and to one day become the main matriarch of Mansfield Park by falling in love with Edmund.

Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Romeo and Juliet. Where can we start? One of the most famous love stories in the world, and Shakespeare’s best regarded play for many. The play starts with Romeo, a Montague facing a new chapter in his life, one without his first love Rose. He moves on, and as he begins to move to the next life encounter, he notices Juliet. Within a short space of time they meet, and fall in love, until he realizes the woman of his dreams is a Capulet, his fiercest enemy. One fateful night, Romeo thinks of Juliet, and realizes their love is doomed. Romeo, still continues his ardency for Juliet, diving deeper into her love, and treading further on a life path which brings trouble for both, never betraying Juliet's trust in him. The fighting between both families starts quickly and continues until both lovers have to hide from their warring families. In the end, Juliet drinks a potion, which makes her appear as if she is dead, and upon finding Juliet, who looks like she has been laid to rest, Romeo, takes away his own life, heartbroken that his love Juliet had died. He was wrong, and as he reaches his end, Juliet awakes from her sleep, and watches Romeo die. She, cannot contain her despair, and takes her own life, to re-unite with the dead Romeo. A poignant, beautiful love story with a tragic end.

Astrology 2024 Gemini

As the Sun enters Gemini, you will have a great start to your birthday month, Gemini. It is also an amazing time to think about embarking on something new, such as a new business, relationship, career moves, or anything else which involves fun, and earning money.

Again, after a 12 year cycle, Jupiter the planet of good luck and prosperity is in Taurus once again, which means it's time to become a material girl, and think about material possessions. It is also the sign which rules the house of marriage within the zodiac, and as Neptune is in Pisces, it's time to enhance or think about your love-life, and relationships. All the astrological alignments apply to Gemini too.

PARIS, THE CITY OF LIGHTS

Paris, is the most populous city in France, with an estimated 2,150,217 people living in the beautiful City of Lights. The city, boasts one of the biggest and most iconic landmarks in the world, as well as hosting a 'variety of things' to do. You can try some of the world's most esteemed Museum's, such as the Louvre and the Musee de Art de Metiers, and the Musee d'Orsay. All can be found with relative ease, if you are already in Paris, just ask around or grab a map of tourist hotspot areas, in and around Central Paris. The Louvre, has great rates for students, and can arrange a discount discreetly if you ask at the counter, or speak to them on the telephone. It is great to visit the museum after 1pm, when things are quiet and you can have a perusal at your own leisure. You can see some of the biggest masterpieces in the world at the Louvre, such as The Venus de Milo, The Winged Victory of Samothrace, Las Noces des Canas, The raft of Medusa and of course The Mona Lisa. Other sights to see are the Champs Elysees, The Palace and Gardens of Versailles, Notre Dame, Galleries Lafayette, The Palais Garnier, and of course the magical Disneyland. If you really want to stretch your imagination, then you should try and tread the creaky boards of the Opera Garnier in Central Paris, which was said to be the inspiration for the musical The Phantom of the Opera. They say that the crestfallen and lacymorose Phantom would lurk beneath the premises, with his face hidden behind a mask. They say it was there that he propositioned the infamous Christine who he was deeply in love with. Historians say there is a curse left behind from the Phantom - a result of his broken heart and ardour for the naive Christine Daee. The Phantom asked the prima donna and main figurante to consider his deep dolorous romantic advances instead of Raoul's lacklustre and 'shallow' affection and interest. Another amazing highlight of Paris is to ensure a visit to the enchanting Disneyland. You can pay at the door, but it is still better to pay in advance for ease. ou can spend a great weekend in Disneyland, with chances to meet Mickey Mouse and watching the 13k Cinderella challenge you'll be spoilt for choice even before you really have the chance to enjoy what's on offer. Halloween is a great time to go and visit with an opportunity to visit the Phantom Manor in Disneyland Park and the spectacularly sparkly Disney Illuminations show which will host a fireworks bonanza. There's no better place to spend Halloween as there's something to do for the entire holiday until Bonfire night. As you see the sights in Paris, there's no better treat than a Super pastel coloured Macaroon. A thin wafer sandwich, which is light and fairy like. You can buy a box for about 25 EURO's and choose from a variety of colours. You can find Laduree in Central Paris, just ask around or take the address before leaving for your trip. A giant Macaroon costs about a few pounds and is sweet and light, perfect for a quick pick me up without weighing you down. You can choose from a variety of flavours. An authentic treat found only in Lauduree.

A French Fancy

A visit to Laduree is a special experience. With many shops to choose from in Central Paris, the wafer thin pastel inspired macaroons are delicious, light and a real treat. Created carefully by the French, the circled treat's are delicious, expensive and an authentic luxury food item created beautifully with care and attention. Paris is a crucial for Macaroons, with as many flavours you can dream of, Laduree is key. Take a bite and savor la vie délicieuse!

£16 or £890? New Look's new bag in 'shocking pink' is as close as it's expensive contemporary, hitting the right fashion credentials.

According to news reports, and press, New Look has created a £16 handbag, that puts the Armani £890 version to the test. The bag in question is the new Armani Cross-body in fuchsia pink. The bag has made a massive impact upon High Street chain New Look, who have created a cheaper more accessible version. The compact and neat handbag, by Armani, is made of real leather and has a matte finish, as opposed to the New Look version, which has a sheeny satin finish, making it’s colour brighter. Both bags, give a lift and twist to key Catwalk looks this season.

Dark black hits, kisses and misses at YSL

Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer collection for 2023 was a hit and miss during Paris Fashion Week. Oversized 80’s style power dressing was key, with shoulder padded models, dominating the runway. Power dressing was paired with sheer tops, dresses and trousers, in soft blacks, and dark chocolate browns. Definitely a big hit and miss, promising glory, and delivering an odd appeal, and oversized ostentation. Spring/Summer fashion has a chocolate brown penchant again, this time with Michael Kors leading fashion proceedings, and inspiring this season’s YSL collection, with power suits and tailoring simply fitting the scene. Beautiful chocolate brown sheer tops were paired with soft black fitted pencil skirts, which open slightly at the bottom, paired with elegant simple black high heels.
